Hearing amplification does what it sounds like it would do - amplify sound. Commonly, hearing decreases a little over time, so hearing again with hearing aids may take some getting used to. With a little patience and working closely with your hearing professional can ensure your success with your hearing amplification!

- Get support from those who will need it. This can include close and extended family as well as caregivers and neighbors
- Do not expect instant success. It may take some time and patience
- Avoid difficult hearing situations
- Small groups are better, avoid larger groups if possible
- Sit in front where situations that need extra help
- Face people when speaking
- Learn all you can about your hearing loss and educate others
- Avoid background noise
- Keep a positive attitude
- Plan follow-up visits with you hearing health professional for any needed adjustments
One the Phone
- Work with your TruHearing professional to find the best results
- For models ITC and ITE it may be best to hold the phone receiver against the ear as normal
- For other models it may be wise to hold the phone close to the ear but not directly against the ear
- If feed back occurs, tile the phone receiver away from your aid, experiment to find the best position
