Ask a TruHearing Provider
Experienced hearing healthcare professionals answer your questions about hearing loss, hearing aids, and overall hearing health.
What’s the best hearing aid?
There are six major manufacturers, and they all make very good equipment. The top manufacturers all offer a lineup of products that includes more basic hearing aids at the lower end of the price scale as well as high-end hearing aids that feature the latest advances in technology. The main differences will be in how well the aid performs in noisy situations and how normal it’s going to sound to you.
Better hearing aids are better for everyone, but when it comes to making a decision about which hearing aid is the best for you, the actual manufacturer is less important than choosing the hearing aid that is best for your lifestyle. If you are willing to invest in a higher-end model of hearing aid, you will have a better overall hearing experience. Of course, when budget is a concern, there are some features that may be less important to you than others, depending on your individual needs. You may still be able to have a good hearing experience with a moderately priced hearing aid.
When you consult with your hearing healthcare provider, come prepared to talk about your daily routine. How often are you in complex listening environments like restaurants or parties? How important is it for you to communicate in those environments? What activities do you engage in? Depending on your lifestyle, there may be accessories, such as a TV streamer, that can enhance your hearing experience without investing in a top-of-the-line hearing aid model. Ultimately, the best hearing aid is the one that best addresses your individual hearing needs.
