Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageOur manufacturers suggest that a battery should last for two weeks, meaning a year supply would be 26 batteries per aid. TruHearing has nearly doubled that, supplying 48 batteries per aid. These will be sent in two shipments. Your hearing aids will come with 8 batteries per aid to see you through your trial period. The remaining 40 batteries will be sent at the end of your 45 day trial period. If you use this supply before the year is up, you will need to purchase any additional batteries needed.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageThe Loss and Damage warranty is effective beginning the day you pick up your hearing aid. The replacement process and fees do not change if you are still in your trial period. Using the Loss and Damage warranty voids the trial period on that aid and you will not be able to return the aid to the manufacturer.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageEach state has different laws regarding the length of time a hearing test is considered valid. You will need to discuss your hearing testing with your provider to make sure the adjustments to your aid match any change in your hearing. Yearly testing is typical for most patients.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageSome people consider hearing as the greatest of the five senses. Helen Keller said, "Blindness cuts us off from things, but deafness cuts us off from people". Sounds help us live life to our fullest. People such as our families, children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors can make life worth living! Hearing at our greatest potential is invaluable.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageIf both ears have impairment, two aids are superior.
You have two ears. While that may seem a bit simplistic, it is true: your hearing is designed to gather sound from two primary directions. Our brains process sounds by comparing the input from two sources, which have different intensity and timing. To make sense of the multitude of sounds in a complicated environment, we need the capabilities nature intended for balanced hearing. If you suffer from hearing loss in both ears, it is often recommended that you purchase two aids.

Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageMost ads like these are confusing for a reason: they do not want you to completely understand. They are meant to draw you into a sales pitch. Be cautious, and seek out an established, licensed Hearing Specialist. Through the TruHearing program, you have access to thousands of qualified providers across the country.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageHearing aid technology is constantly progressing. In the last couple of years, hearing aid technology has improved greatly. This new technology is better able to meet a customers’ needs, by removing background noise and to minimizing feedback. Other improvements include data logging, automatic program changes, use of remote control, and digital feedback suppression. Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageHearing aids cannot completely avoid the loss that comes with age and the impact of years of noise. We are all going to lose some hearing. However, being able to makes sense of what we hear depends upon our ability to differentiate sounds, to locate their source, and to process what we hear. These abilities decrease unless the hearing pathways are stimulated by use. So, while you may not speed up the loss by waiting, you could reduce your ability to adapt to a hearing aid when the time comes that you really need one. Your best course of action is to contact a hearing specialist, have a test, and then discuss the options.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageOf the more than 20 manufacturers, only a handful do the actual research and design of the state-of the-art digital technology. Among these major brands, there is very little difference. Our Hearing Consultants and local service providers will know the best brand for you, with a proven record of quality and support.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageThere is no "best" hearing aid, because hearing aids have to be custom-fit for each user - there is no "one size fits all".
There are many good manufacturers, with very similar internal technology, and external or cosmetic design. The best hearing aid is the one that best meets your needs, medical and lifestyle. This choice must be made with the assistance of a trained Hearing Consultant or audiologist. The benchmark of a good program is customer care and support, providing education about options, good warranties, and assisting you with your selection.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageAccording to our customers, Audiologists, and hearing loss consultants, when choosing a hearing aid, you should consider the following features and capabilities:
Today, nearly 100% of all hearing aids sold are digital. The reason digital hearing technology is considered superior to anything else available today is that it provides the most precise personal fitting possible. It adapts to meet your ear and your hearing needs.
Digital Hearing Aids have a finely crafted, custom-programmed chip which offers the most precise way to treat your particular hearing loss, at the specific amplification required. The digital technology enables the device, and your brain, to independently process separate bands of incoming sound. This makes your aid a custom-tuned and highly adaptive hearing instrument.
Through this technology, you will once again receive and process sound nearly as nature intended.
Back to FAQ List | Back to top of PageThe open-fit style has become the most popular over the past five years, primarily due to its size and fit: no "stopped up" feeling, greater comfort, nearly invisible look. And, with the development of better technology, even in its smaller size, it can deal with a wider range of hearing loss.
